Make hay while the sun shines

While Saturday’s weather largely kept Mattias and I indoors - at the movies (Ocean’s Thirteen – better than 12 not as good as 11) and at Laleh’s house party (the masquerade theme went down very well!) - the sun shone down us on Sunday which was a great respite from the rainy summer we’ve been experiencing. So we made the most of it and ventured out to discover Little Venice.

This little pocket of London is where Regent’s Canal meets Grand Junction Canal just south of Maida Vale. It turns out to be 10 minutes from my work and amazingly peaceful compared to Edgware Road. We had a wander around the streets admiring the white stucco homes (my future address) and then settled in for a late lunch at the Waterway. The terrace is a great spot to spend an afternoon – it catches the sun and has a view of leisurely cruisers passing by & the moored canal boats. The sun held for so long that we walked from there all the way back to my place via Hyde Park.

It holds me in good stead for my visit to big Venice next week!
