The short lived hail storm on arrival didn't bode well but fortunately the rain held off for the most part even if it meant the sun did too.
On Friday we visited the palace and grounds of Versailles. It was a great shame the fountains weren't on in the gardens but we did get a sense of the splendor, and I particularly liked 'l'orangerie'. Inside was your typical chateau - grand rooms, opulent decoration, oil paintings galore, chandeliers dangling from ornate ceilings, and wall high windows - with the exception of the hall of mirrors which was pretty impressive.

The hall of mirrors (and people)

For dinner, Jaimee lead us to a cosy restaurant in Montemarte she'd been to before and it didn't disappoint. Good food and service (I like any waiter who tops up my glass on the house).
We shopped at Printemps and in the Marais on Saturday and stopped in briefly at Place des Vosges before heading out for a rustic, provencal meal followed by several mojitos in Bastille. A fun night out indeed even if the bars were a little seedy.

And to cap off our weekend, the four of us picked up bits for a picnic at a food market and cycled through town to a park in Belleville. We made the most of our last hours soaking it all up.
