And a new one about to begin. So it's time to take a moment to reflect on the year that was 2010 while polishing off the last of the Quality Streets and watching Love Actually for the zillionth time.
As with every year, this year was not without its low and sad points but it was all-in-all a good year: full of great times and plenty of laughs with all of my fantastic friends. I was sorry to see dear Dave & Piero leave London bound for Sydney as I've enjoyed life here with them so much but now I have another reason to visit Sydney! I was again reminded of the circle of life with the sad passing away of my grandmother, balanced with the pleasure of attending both Jaimee & Damian and Alana & Jules' weddings.
My travel adventures saw me spend:
- Easter in Seville
- Fantastic summer holidays in Portugal and Corsica
- Weekends in Copenhagen, Champagne and Paris
- Three weeks seeing friends and family, and the Great Ocean Road, in Australia
- And seeing more of the UK with visits to the New Forest, North Yorkshire, Manchester and Devon
Of all the plays, opera, ballet and exhibitions I saw this year, the highlights were:
- Ministry of Food Exhibition at the Imperial War Museum
- The Comedy of Errors at the Open Air Theatre in Regent's Park
- A Flea in Her Ear at the Old Vic
- I was particularly pleased to have been to three places I hadn't been to before: the Wallace Collection, the Geffrye Museum and the John Soane Museum
Eating and drinking in London has delivered yet another year of enjoyment for me. My favourite experiences were dinners at L'Autre Pied, Bocca di Lupo, Zucca, Polpo, Dishoom and Dean Street Townhouse; and breakfasts and brunches at Caravan and Lantana. There were so many more great meals at pubs, restos and friends' houses in addition to these!
Other highlights were going to Wimbledon for the first time, cycling in the New Forest, Devon & London, enjoying the warm summer weather and being promoted to Senior Account Director at work.
Here’s to an even better 2011!
