Easter in the Loire Valley

To celebrate Kris' 40th birthday, a bunch of us escaped to a chateau in the Loire Valley (a village called Villeloin-Coulange) over the Easter break.

It was very relaxing. We spent quite a bit of time simply lounging about in our home because it was so lovely.  We did manage to get out and about a little bit each day though. We had an adventurous walk to the next village through some fields once we lost the path. We hired bikes (from the one shop in the village that fortunately had everything you could need) to cycle through the local fields and forest. And we tasted a few glasses of the local plonk at nearby vineyards.

Evenings were lots of fun. A local cook prepared 3 course rustic French dinners for us each night. We drank wine and played games til the wee hours.

The highlight was of course the Easter Egg hunt around the house that Stuart put on for us!

The chateau for the weekend (the tower is 14th or 16th C; Joan of Arc also stayed here)
