The big 4.0. for Stu was never going to be a quiet affair. A bunch of us headed to the Swedish town of Gothenburg for a long weekend to celebrate and it was a brilliant weekend.
We arrived on Thursday evening at our Airbnb, a beautiful house in one of the suburbs.
We were up early on Friday for a fun-filled day at the Liseburg amusement park. We found a good spot for brunch and then straight to the action. We went on loads of rides. Stuart, Ollie and Damian went on all the very scary rides but the scariest ride I went on is Europe's largest wooden rollercoaster. I went on it twice. It was better the second time. We finished the day at an Italian place in the old town.
Friday brunch was at a different spot well-known for it's 'west coast salad' which is a delicious prawn, crab, egg, mayo, dill salad served on rye bread. Afterwards we took a ferry to one of the nearby islands. It was a wet and chilly day so we took a brisk stroll around the island and then bunkered down in a small cafe trying out the local beers which made for a fun afternoon. Dinner was at a burger joint with drinks back at the house.
On Sunday we strolled down to the local beach - all very scandi, and then found a great spot for brunch. After a long walk through the old town and a last drink together it was time to go to the airport.
