Laura, Jamiee and I had been planning a weekend away together and managed to pull it off much sooner than expected. We all met up in Liverpool last weekend - I'd never been before so was happy to explore the city. It was a lot of fun for the three of us to be hanging out again.
On Saturday we wandered around the city, stopped for a glass of cava, and checked out the Cavern Club where the Beatles used to play. We stayed in a big apartment with a great view over the dock area - perfect for a bottle of bubbles before dinner. Our spanish tapas were tasty, and the speakeasy cocktail bar Berry & Rye we went to afterwards was surprisingly good.
Sunday morning we walked across to the Tate for breakfast and a wander through the gallery. We saw Tracey Emin's famous unmade bed installation which I've always heard of but never seen before. Afterwards we drove to Crosby Beach to see Antony Gormley's Another Place artwork - a series of bronze statues planted in the sand and sea looking out to the horizon.
Then it was back on the train to London. A short trip but worth it.
