3 weeks in Melbourne, 3 months in Australia

This week marks 3 weeks in Melbourne (arrived 25 March), and 3 months in Australia (arrived 18 January). While time has been going very slowly, and I have been desperately missing everything about my life in London, the last 3 weeks have started to pick up.

I'm settling into my townhouse in South Melbourne. All the boxes are now unpacked and mostly gone from the house. I have two pictures hanging up, bought two ferns and my new dining table and chairs have arrived. I'm trying to sell or donate things I don't need. After my experience packing and unpacking, and going through David's belongings from storage, I'm on a mission to pair back.

My street

My new place

I'm walking to and from work every day which is a nice change, and testing out a new coffee shop each morning while I find my favourite. Work has been very quiet which I'm not used to but I expect it will pick up. The people there seem nice at least.

This little neighbourhood has it all. I found a new place to go to pilates opposite work. And Albert Park is only a few minutes walk from my house so that's my new running route.

My favourite new haunt is the South Melbourne Market. It's a short walk from home, actually on the same street as my office. It's huge and has an eclectic mix of everything you can think of from fruit & veg, fish & meat, coffee, gelato, delis & restaurants. I've bought flowers, batteries, shampoo, a doormat and had a mani & pedi there. I may never need to go to the supermarket again.

I was lucky enough to have Stu & Kris visiting from London for a couple of weeks so we got to hang out a bit with Melbourne International Comedy Festival, AFL at the MCG, and a couple of drinks and dinners in Richmond and Fitzroy. We went to Damian's 40th birthday party in Blairgowrie on the Mornington Peninsula together and stayed overnight. And I caught up with Pauline & Stephen for brunch in the city.

A beer, pie and chips. Tradition apparently.

A second Friday night at the football! Free for me with my MCC membership.
