On Saturday I went to London Fashion Weekend at the Natural History Museum. Its a showcase of designers (clothes, bags, accessories) with stalls set up for the lead up to London Fashion Week. Brooke, her friend and I scoured the floors for bargains. Pleased to say I walked away with 2 new tops ready for my Summer wardrobe, a pair of earrings and a necklace (I had to make the most of my £10 entry fee).
And today, despite the grey skies, I forced myself out of bed and went to the Columbia Rd Flower market. I've been meaning to go for ages now. Sunday mornings not being my forte it's taken a little while ;-) My early rise was rewarded though. It's relatively small but the street is lined with gift shops (mostly pressies with a garden theme) and flower sellers enthusiastically encouraging passers by to take home "2 bunches for a fiver".

The afternoon's activity took me to Shad Thames which is on the south side of the river at the Tower of London and is home of The Design Museum. 'Designing a Modern Britain' is the small permanent exhibit featuring advertising and design for London Transport from the 30s including the original H Beck underground map, a number of design and architecture publications, a showcase of 'utility' furniture (a WWII program for affordable home furnishings), a number of chairs, some album covers, and my favourite - a feature on Penguin Books and the Penguin Donkey (a specially designed book & paper stand for the home). A pretty cool shop and cafe as well.

And to top the day off, I joined the local library and took out 7 books!
I might add that I did all of this without a winter jacket.
