With my father visiting from London over the Christmas period we took the opportunity to dine at as many plush restaurants as possible. He likes eating out too so it worked well for both of us. And it meant Rob had a break from pizza, pasta and 2 minute noodles!
My work colleagues and friends put up with me for several weeks while I chose where to go. With the constraints of dining out in London: booking months in advance for popular restaurants, early and late sittings, and it being Christmas I did my best to put together an impressive feasting itinerary.
The results:
Arbutus - 3 1/2 stars: excellent service, good meal, in true michelin style the menu is a little tricky to navigate so not good for fussy eaters
Locanda Locatelli - 2 1/2 stars: excellent service, I liked the interior design of the restaurant, the entrees were great but we were unfortunately let down by mains and dessert which isn't good for a michelin starred restaurant and supposedly one of "London's best Italian restuarants"
The Botanist - 0 stars: very disappointing, don't go there except if you need a drink on Sloane Square
The Devonshire - 3 1/2 stars: lovely Christmas day lunch, Gordon Ramsay's folk did the traditional lunch really well and had a log fire!
Chez Bruce - 4 1/2 stars: fabulous service, fabulous food and lovely atmosphere. The best of the best!
The Holly Bush - 3 stars: really great pub grub and close to Hampstead Heath to walk it off afterwards
Providores - 3 1/2 stars: tapas style with a heavy asian influence. Really good meal, good service.
I feel very spoilt after so many great evenings!
