It's always invigorating doing new things in London and even more so when they're unexpected delights. Last week I had two cool evening outings worth mentioning.
1) On Tuesday night I had a quick sandwich and coffee at Bar Italia before meeting up with Laleh. Then we headed across the street to Ronnie Scott's and saw Regina Carter perform as part of the London jazz festival. It was really enjoyable music (she plays violin) and we would have stayed there tapping our feet and drinking red wine til the wee hours if it wasn't a school night.
2) On Thursday night I tagged along with my flatmate Rebecca and two of her friends to a dinner at Hackney City Farm (my second trip to London Fields in as many weeks!). They do the odd evening event using produce from the farm and it gets booked up almost immediately by those in the know so it felt like quite a treat to be there. We were greeted with mulled wine which I followed with a goat's cheese salad, chestnut and ricotta ravioli with roast partridge ragu and apple crumble. Perfect winter food and very filling!
