How to read a champagne label

Vintage: the champagne comes from a particular year (Millesime Vintage is from a particularly good harvest)
Non vintage: a blend of more than one year. Usually the 'traditional' label that is consistent year over.

Brut: dry with some sugar added
Extra Brut: no added sugar
Extra Dry: this is a trick! This is the sweetest with the most sugar added.

Cru: a village or vineyard
Grand Cru: the very best vineyards
Premier Cru: between the two
