I have a spring in my step

We had the mildest of winters this year, with only two cold snaps that I can recall (including one day of snowfall). Care of warm water in the gulf stream I believe. So many of the winter mornings were bright and clear with the skies feeling higher and broader than usual. There were some lovely sunrises to enjoy from the Balham train platform on my morning commute which made for a positive start to the day.

And so its been a subtle transition into spring. The days are markedly longer now though and the temperatures have been in the mid-teens for the last week or two. But this afternoon really felt like a proper spring day.

Ana and I had lunch at Lantana (which I haven't been to in months). I had the baked eggs with roast mushroom, spiced chickpeas, spinach and feta with turkish bread. And two coffees! We then wandered across town to the Curzon Mayfair cinema to see Bel Ami (two stars). It was still very light when we came out so to make the most of the afternoon we walked through Green Park where the daffodils are blooming back to Victoria train station.

No winter coats and all that fresh air cheered me enormously!
