I thoroughly enjoyed the London 2012 Olympics and I'm sure I'll remember it for a long time to come. I can't even believe I was here to take part in all the action - it seemed so far away when I first arrived.
On the night of the opening ceremony there was an excitement in the air with people rushing home and the streets getting quieter just like the city on Christmas eve. I watched the ceremony around the corner with Laura, Barry, Damian and takeaway curry on our laps in front of the TV.
Later in the week Laura and I saw a men's volleyball heat with Australia and GB at Earl's Court. It was great fun being able to cheer Australia on, albeit it in the midst of all the Brits! Our cheers must have helped because they won!

On Super Saturday I spent the morning watching the rowing and then Jaimee and I headed to Potter's Field at London Bridge to watch the live screen and soak up some of the atmosphere with the backdrop of Tower Bridge. It had such a great vibe that we stayed all evening as well and watched the cycling and the athletics. We cheered on Jess Ennis and Mo Farrah with everyone else. Afterwards we saw the light projections on the Houses of Parliament.

The weather was actually summery the following week so on the Thursday night Laura, Jaimee and I went back to Potter's Field for a picnic and more big screen action. It was my first picnic all summer which was a highlight in itself but joining all the other excited picnickers made it even more fun.

I managed to glimpse some of the swimming, diving and gymnastics as well. And then last night I was back on the couch to watch the closing ceremony. But it's not over yet. I'm looking forward to my visit to the Olympic Park in a few weeks' time for the athletics finals of the Paralympics.
A couple of extra olympic-themed shots from the last two weeks.
