If you read the previous post, you'll know I arrived at Glastonbury on Wednesday evening rather than Wednesday morning as originally planned thanks to the closing of the channel tunnel and me being delayed in Paris overnight.
Fortunately I didn't miss too much, and I had another great year at the festival. This year Stu & Kris, Mailie and I, Amanda & Marguerita and Fleur all camped together. It was a little quieter than last year which was a good thing (less hangovers, less sleep ins, more time awake to enjoy it!). The weather was really pretty great with only a few showers.
Music highlights were Wolf Alice, Alabama Shakes, Pharell Williams, Mark Ronson, Gentleman George (Blues band at 2am in the Rocket Lounge in Shangri La), Lionel Ritchie, Florence and the Machine. And seeing a little Northern band called the Shields in the Rabbit Hole. Saw quite a bit more than these bands though.
Festival highlights included having my first ever Gong Bath (lying down on a bed while an earthy hippy type bangs the gong the sounds cocoon you in a very relaxing way) in the Healing Fields, doing a two hour wooden spoon making workshop in the Green Craft field, listening to comedian Ruby Wax at the Speaker's Forum, going on the swing in the Avalon field, and seeing some circus acts. Plus general lying in the sun, people watching, and exploring each of the areas.
Eating continued to be a focus with so much great food on offer. The hog roast was a must again. A naked (bread-free) Banh Mi was delicious, the ice cream, the fruit salad (talk about healthy!), the salad box from Fat Boxes, and The Breakfast Club pop up from London right near our camp spot was a very welcome surprise.
