I hear the temperatures are soaring at home. While the Ashes were on
in Brisbane, I was reminded on a daily basis from my colleagues how
nice the weather looks at the moment while its been getting cooler and
darker here each day. Apparently it is extremely mild for this time of
year though so it looks like I won't have to endure an extreme winter
(knock wood).
Culture-wise, this past month I seem to have been to a number of gigs
with Stuart and company which has kept my week nights busy. And I went
to a terrific play with Laura called Frost/Nixon about the famous
television interview a British journalist had post Nixon's resignation
as President.
Travel-wise, I've recently been to Paris, Florence and Belgium and
Dorset. All great trips which I wrote about separately on the blog if
you want to read up on them there.
I've spent the last few weekends in London which has given me the
chance to do a few more things around town with friends. I checked out
Battersea Power Station which is going to be redeveloped shortly -
think New Farm Powerhouse but quadruple the size. And while Dunja was
here, we tried out a few new bars (old faves' of hers) on the East
side of town and a couple in the city. Laura and I have ticked off a
few more of the fab restaurants this city has to offer with our Sunday
lunches. Louise joined the two of us today at Odette's in Primrose
Hill for yet another delightful meal. Sadly no celebrity spotting to
speak of. Yesterday I continued the exploration of new things in
London with a trip to Hampstead with Mattias. After a slippery walk
around the heath, we went to see the new Bond movie in a very cool
cinema with couches and wine bottle holders! Beats Gold Class hands
down (the movie wasn't bad either). And followed it with dinner at a
local gastropub.
The next couple of weeks are filled with pre-xmas drinks & dinners
which should all be great fun. Really looking forward to eating at
Jamie Oliver's Fifteen restaurant on Thursday night with my flat
mates. Not so thrilled about the western theme of the upcoming
Proximity Christmas party!
The privilege of working on the Sainsbury's account means I will be
working in my local supermarket for a day to help out during the silly
season - and I thought I managed to avoid being a check out chick!
That's about it from me for now. Trust you're all well and in festive spirits!
