Pearl Jam & Berlin

My good friends Stu & Kris are big fans of the band Pearl Jam and I have never seen them play live before. So we decided to go together to see them in Berlin. I hadn't been to Berlin since 2006 so didn't mind going again. The concert and the whole weekend was great fun and exceeded my expectations.

The outdoor ampitheatre, Waldbuhne, was a fantastic atmosphere
And it was a beautiful sunny day too

The rest of the weekend was very leisurely strolling around Berlin. Mostly East Berlin which I haven't really been to before and really liked.

Friday night dinner

We met up with a friend of Mailie's, Aline, who was lovely
The schnitzel was great

And went to a cool Russian bar for drinks afterwards

Lunch was a potato rosti with eggs and salad. At least the salad was healthy.
We did a walking tour based on this local map we found.
I really liked Prenzluer Berg.

Wandering around the market with an aperol spritz

We went to a lake near the centre of the city called Strandbad Orankesee.
I had no idea Berlin had so many lakes.
For 5 Euros you can hang out there all day. We went on that waterslide several times too.

Strandbad Orankesee

Prater Garten - beer garden
It was the quarter final of the World Cup with England vs Sweden so we watched it here.

Beers lined up for the game

Dinner at the famous Burgermeister - a burger place in an old public toilet
Not a bad burger!

All the local illustrated maps for different areas

A gelati at Early Bird - melon & hazelnut
(Last gelati of the weekend so I guess that's why I don't look very happy)
