Imbibing with Belinda

Having a spare bedroom is paying off. The weekend after Kristy's visit I was pleased to have another visitor, Belinda, down from Qld.

Unashamedly our focus for the weekend was eating and drinking and it kicked off on Friday night with dinner at Bellota, a local Italian restuarant.

We hit the road on Saturday in a small hop on hop off bus tour to the Yarra Valley for some wine tasting. The Archibald Prize 2019 exhibition was on at the art museum at Tarrawarra Estate so we popped in there before the wine tasting. It's a well regarded, small exhibition and there were some impressive portraits. We lunched and tasted bubbles at Domain Chandon in a pretty setting overlooking the valley. Afterwards was a Four Pillars for a gin tasting, and two more vineyards. The Yarra Valley is known for it's Pinot Noir and Chardonnay both which I really enjoy but I didn't particularly love any of the wines we tasted enough to buy a bottle. It was all good fun though. 

Once we got back to the city we went to Kirk's for a drink (I need an espresso martini at that point) and dinner at Bar Margaux.

Wine tasting was a massive day and we were exhausted but we were ready for brunch the next morning at Wynyard, a short walk from home. We wandered through the buzzing South Melbourne and finished up with a pit stop at the Spanish place for a glass of Cava.
