...not just since I've written, but it's now been four months since
I've been O/S.
Hello again! Hope you are all well. Life in London is keeping me quite
busy, and well entertained.
Since I last wrote we've had Easter and a few long weekends and I've
had a couple of trips away. I've seen quite a bit of English country
side - Cornwall, the Isle of Wight, the Cotswolds and had my first
trip to the Continent with a weekend in Berlin!
I've written a little bit more about these trips away on a blog I have
set up - mostly so I can show you some pics and remember what I've
been doing. Don't expect too many updates or random and trivial tid
bits from me though! It's http://emma-in-london.blogspot.com/
Mostly I'm just doing the usual things I did at home but with a
slightly different backdrop - albeit a very cosmopolitan city on
Europe's doorstep! - eating out quite a bit (weekend lunches and
impromptu dinners seem to fit nicely into my schedule), having drinks
with friends, seeing the odd gig, resisting the temptation to spend
every pay cheque on clothes, and a few weekends away thrown in for
good measure.
Last weekend (now two weeks ago!) was spent in London, as will be most
of June. The weather was delightful. Drinks on the footpath at the
Westbourne pub on Friday night; ducked into a designer sample sale for
some jeans on Sat followed by a long afternoon enjoying cider, ice
cream and the green grass in St James' Park. I had my first Turkish
Spa experience (in Bayswater not Turkey) on Sunday morning which was
good fun - steam rooms and plunge pools in art deco surrounds -
accompanied by Laura. And lunch at the Duke of Cambridge (an organic
gastropub) in Islington where a cousin of mine is a chef with Juleen &
Laura.
This Saturday night just gone was an early celebration of my 28th
b'day. A bunch of us (including Alana who came down from Bristol for
the night) went to a 1940s supper club called Le Pigalle in Piccadilly
which was a really great spot. Dinner, a live band with great music,
dancing, and wine flowing into the wee hours of the morning. And
tomorrow night on my actual birthday I will have a low key catch up
with some friends at a local pub in Pimlico for some traditional
british pub thai food and a couple of drinks.
Work-wise, I am still on TV Licensing at Proximity and might hang
around after my contract finishes up in July but we'll see what is on
offer at the time.
Really getting excited by my next two trips, both in July - a weekend
in Prague for my cousin Kristy's birthday & 10 days in Croatia! And
then Ana comes to visit!
And this coming weekend I'll be in Dorset with Kristy visiting our
English cousins on their sheep property.
Bye for now
xo emma
PS It was 32 degrees here today - quite a novelty for the Australian
contingent. As was the win against Japan in the football (aka soccer)
this afternoon. The Aussies in my office banded together in front of
the big screen in the bar downstairs to watch.
