Post Script re British seaside towns

I’m not entirely certain what trade or economic sanctions have been applied against the coastal towns of England a la Cuba in the ‘50s but these places seem, at least architecturally, to be stuck in the ‘60s or ‘70s! There doesn’t appear to be much in the way of town planning or beautification of the esplanade. If the lack of inspiration here doesn’t draw you down to the water’s edge then the amusement park at each beach is sure to. In a genuine effort to understand the phenomenon (when in Rome…), I rode the chair lift at the Needles park, won a keyring throwing rings at bottles and lost a pound attempting to knock down some cans in side show alley. Still not sure where they’re coming from…

I should qualify these comments by saying what I saw of Mousehill and Marazion was delightful and if you squint St Ives has some nice parts. Nevertheless I’ve postponed my excursion to Brighton until I really need to feel some sand between my toes…
