Ballooning in Bristol

There was maybe less ballooning than the fiesta organisers might have liked. As I pulled into Bristol on Friday night I brought the wind with me - alas there was to be no flying of balloons. That didn't stop Alana, Jules, Kate (visiting sister of Alana) and I behaving in true festival mode.

Out on Friday night to our favourite haunts - Mr Wolf's and the Tube. Saturday saw us attend not 1 but 2 bbqs in the afternoon - the first generously hosted at the Angel Inn by Alana's boss who sponsors a balloon in the event (fishtank recruitment if you're looking for a job in the area!) - and the second was a big bunch of A&Js friends assembled for the aforementioned balloon flight on the Downs (aka in a park). I dragged dear Alana away from the bbq to ensure I saw a hot air balloon once that weekend and we headed to a field across town for the 'night glow' where all the balloons were lit up and swaying in the wind to music. Majestic, as Alana said. But short lived because we headed straight to Clifton 15 mins later to rejoin the bbq since reformed as drinks at The Mall.

Sunday was another slow start as all good Sundays are. Lunch at the Watershed. 1/2 a 3D kids movie at the Imax (technical difficulties prevented the last 1/2 being shown which was a shame because it was the first time i'd ever seen a 3D flick and had the opportunity to wear those spec. glasses), trialled a pear cider (because we hadn't drunk enough that weekend), and put me on a bus home.

I am growing very fond of Bristol and not in the least because I can catch up with some of my fave friends. Photos ensue c/- Katie as I am still one camera short.
