Here comes the sun

Another month has flown by here with lots happening. If you haven’t heard my exciting news already, I have officially got my visa and can stay in the UK now until 2009 (and extend til 2012!) which gives me lots of flexibility with work and deciding where I want to be living (ie. here or there!).

This past month I’ve seen more of the English countryside heading to Bristol, Bath (again!) and Devon. I haven’t seen much of the north country yet so that is on my list for the latter half of this year. I’ll see a bit of it when I go to the Lake District for a long weekend in May with Flavia (my flatmate), Louise (my old flatmate) & Jaimee.

Out and about in London, I’ve been to a few more gigs and started to raise the cultural bar somewhat with a trip to the London Fashion weekend (yes, I count fashion as an albeit-convenient-for-me element of a country’s culture!); visits to the Design Museum & British Library; and performance-wise, a burlesque show and an off-west end play. As always, I continue the quest for the ultimate dining experience! The River Café would have to be the best recently. This is where Jamie Oliver was working when he became well known but the two women who run the show clearly know what they are doing!

Upcoming trips are to Brussels (this weekend), a canal weekend on middle-England’s waterways (I hope I don’t get sea sick!), an extra-long Easter weekend in Brighton, San Sebastian, and Paris. I can’t wait til June when Laura, Helen & I are heading to Italy’s Amalfi coast. And the Glastonbury festival is on in June too so I am hoping to get tickets to that along with the other 3 million people who want to go.

While you are sliding under the covers with Autumn, London is just waking up to Spring. The weather has been delightfully sunny and not nearly as chilly. It bodes well for Summer.

2012? Oh well, the place obviously agrees with you. The trick now is to win the lottery so you can buy a place in Bath.
