Thursday marked six years to the day since I left Australia for a life in London via a week in Tokyo. And just a week ago yesterday I got my visa for indefinite leave to remain in the UK. When I first moved here, "for 2 years, or as long as I am still having fun", I didn't think I'd ever reach this milestone. It seemed so far away. And now, it seems like it has come around oh so quickly!
But I was pleased as punch walking out of Lunar House in Croydon with this visa in my passport, and had a glass of bubbles to celebrate.
No more visa applications now. I can stay here as long as like, but just can't leave for more than 2 years at a time. This time next year, I might even become a British citizen!
