Coffee, swans, a park & ferns

At long last the sun shone on Saturday afternoon so I went out for a wander.

First up, was Monocle cafe. The people who run the magazine have successfully turned their hands to coffee and opened up a small but perfectly formed cafe in London. I had a latte and enjoyed the aesthetic.

The window reflections of the building opposite sparkled on the brick wall in Chiltern Street.

Next I ventured up to Queen's Park to check out the florist Scarlet & Violet. I love the book the owner has written so wanted to see the shop. It's wall to wall with flowers and receptacles of every kind, including these swans who manage to be both graceful and kitsch at the same time.

I walked through Queen's Park and back down to my old 'hood, Warwick Avenue to buy some new indoor plants from Clifton Nurseries (the last ones haven't survived the long months of central heating). I bought two maidenhair ferns, which remind me of my Grandmother (she had them), and an African violet.

It was refreshing to be wandering outside in the sunshine... here's hoping this means spring has arrived!
