Near misses

On Saturday Juleen and I headed to the Saatchi Gallery for some culture, only to find out when we got there that it had closed down! We continued to wander along the south bank of the Thames and stopped for lunch at a restaurant called Tamesa in Oxo Tower. I can recommend the ice cream and sorbet selection for dessert (especially passionfruit, chocolate and raspberry) as well as the lovely view. Quite a lot of restaurants do set menus so it’s a cheaper way to eat out more frequently (this is how I am justifying it anyway).

After lunch we wandered across to St Paul’s Cathedral, Christopher Wren’s masterpiece. Juleen hadn’t been before and it had been 9 years since I saw the inside of it, but the £9 seemed all too much for something that is free if you can find some religion on a Sunday to attend a service. We went next door for coffee at Pauls (excellent chain of patisseries) instead, and have vowed to return when we are in a festive mood for the Christmas concert.

A (sideways?) view of the other Pauls

On Saturday night I went to a bbq at Damian’s place with a group of friends. Another fun, late night. Sunday was a quiet one in preparation for the next 3 weekends when I’ll be out of town. But I did manage to leave the flat to catch up with a friend, Dave, at Clapham Common.

Exciting news, I have finally replaced my camera so there will be photos to accompany these ramblings again soon.

I can definitely recommend the Christmas carols at St Paul's cathedral, even though it is a heathen church.

Inside is truly spectacular, the choir was awesome, and I somehow managed to get a 2nd row seat, even though I arrived on the dot. To make the most of the entertainment, I would say that the front is the best place to be...
